The Pastel Hibiscus

The Pastel Hibiscus

*“The Pastel Hibiscus” is part of the Flower Series…

Oil Pastel, Pastel, and Watercolour on Arches Paper…

Are you butterflies
 immobilized in flight

Drifting from our skies, frail as paper boat

Are you musical notes,
dropped on creek to float

Are you pastel dreams
And is our colored marsh
not the grass it seems

Soon you’re borne away,
reflected in streams
...A Ware

    Powerful looking image

  • Janis Zroback replied

I wanted to depict the boldness of the tropical colours and the intense heat, not only of the sun but of the colours of the landscape itself…I decided that emphasizing the intensity of the hues would give the right impact…I think it did…
