Oh Wow! Stunning colours, that red is magnificent. I have never mastered watercolours : (
Janis Zroback replied
Thank you Carmen…it was the first medium I learned and it is indeed the most difficult…you just have to keep keeping on and sooner or later you master it….

Alison Pearce
Gorgeous! The poem compliments the piece perfectly!
Janis Zroback replied
Thanks Alison…it takes a ton of time to find and appropriate verse, but I think it’s worth it…it add so much dimension to the piece…
Cilliers
Hehe, nah, I use them in the manner of inks now and as part of mixed media works like my “African Inspired” – I’ll leave work like this to the masters of the medium like yourself and stick to acrylics which has sooooo much more room for error : )

Awesome Janis, the poem is wonderful with this piece.
Janis Zroback replied
Thanks so much Vickie…my collection of poetry is vast, and takes a lot of time to go through it…yet I can’t add a painting without some words….

For a watercolor painting those colors are very vibrant. Those leaves really do appear to be illuminated rather than just painted that way.
Janis Zroback replied
Thanks Mui-Ling…. I paint in many layers…sometimes more than 20….here I started with the yellows, many of them, and then ended up with the darkest tones… using many transparent tones wet on wet and then wet on dry gives you a lot of luminosity…in the end your painting glows…
