Winter Storm

From the Series Landscape… “Winter Storm”.....
Watercolour on Arches Paper…
Announced by all the trumpets of the sky,
Arrives the snow, and, driving o’er the fields,
Seems nowhere to alight: the whited air
Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven,
And veils the farmhouse at the garden’s end.
The sled and traveler stopped, the courier’s feet
Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit
Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed
In a tumultuous privacy of storm. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Evocative composition … the primary coloring and the feeling of raw nature make me want to be snugged up somewhere warm and dry, with a cuppa hot chocolate and a good book.
Janis Zroback replied
Thank you for your very insightful comment on my work…for me hot chocolate is good any time though….

Thanks Vickie…as usual I can’t resist using colour to express mood…it would have been a lot easier to use white, but I think not so effective…

Love the action portrayed; the white snow rushing through the colors of the sky, past the black trees rooted to the earth trying hard to keep still.

Simple, yet effective. The diagonal lines and the trees, convey the feeling of the storm.
