The Clearing
Second in the Series-The Trees.
Semi-Abstract Landscape in Watercolour on Arches Paper…
I part the out thrusting branches
and come in beneath
the blessed and the blessing trees.
Though I am silent
there is singing around me.
Though I am dark
there is vision around me.
Though I am heavy
there is flight around me…Wendell Berry

I found the Wendell Berry poem after I had finished this painting, and I had to include it, as it totally expressed the emotion of the work….

I love the style, and the accents of light as though the sun is shining brightly through a dense cluster of leaves of the trees.

You are welcome, I have been practicing Bamboo all day lol, what is that saying? Half a life to be able to paint bamboo but a whole lifetime to do Orchids.
Janis Zroback in reply to coppertrees’s comment, 3 months ago
I love painting Bamboo….very rarely paint any flowers, as it’s too much like portrait painting, which I never do…scope is too limited…..you just gave me an idea…I think I will do Bamboo as part of this series on trees….
Thanks again for everything…I’m off now to a tent sale for artists…as if I needed any more stuff…you should see my studio…it’s like an art store in itself.

oh this is magic! love your use of scraping back – it’s so interesting
Janis Zroback in reply to Marion Chapman’s comment, 2 months ago
Marion, thank you so much for the word “magic”.....
I actually “paint around” the white areas, which I prefer to scraping back…It gives a purer white…..I paint wet on wet by spraying water, so I can have more control of the paint…..
