The Bridge

The Bridge

Part of the Series of Oriental Paintings…

We’ve come to the parting of the ways from our kind hosts who have led us safely this far on our journey of discovery…there is the bridge in the distance….too soon we will be on our own, but before we take leave let us sit and talk about past times…..

Janis

Ink and Watercolour on Paper.

You ask me why I dwell in the green mountain;
I smile and make no reply for my heart is free of care.
As the peach-blossom flows down stream and is gone into the unknown,
I have a world apart that is not among men.

As is usual with my paintings…I write a short narrative while the painting is uploading, as it was originally painted from my imagination.
For these particular pieces, I also place a traditional Chinese poetry, to give some added dimension….
I hope you are enjoying these works as much as I enjoyed painting and sharing them with you.

Gorgeous piece, I love the light and shadows, great depth.

  • Janis Zroback replied

    Thanks again…
This style of painting ignores the rules of western perspective, but I think the result is a greater sense of depth, as man and his works are considered secondary to nature…the mountains and rocks almost overpower, the bridge is barely perceived in the distance….

Your art is really conecting, they are so very moving. I spent some time in China and loved to visit the major art galleries, Your work would not be out of place there.

  • Janis Zroback replied

Thanks Ron….I’m always so pleased with your comments.

I have never been to China….these paintings were done over the space of one winter, when I decided I wanted to do Chinese brush painting….in the community of experienced Chinese painters, I would be considered just a beginner, so yours and all the other great comments are doubly appreciated.

I will do more very soon, now that I see all the positive reactions to them.

How did I miss this? Wonderful I love it.

  • Janis Zroback replied

Vickie, I think you will just have to go through my pages very slowly again, so as not to miss anything, and then I won’t miss out on your wonderful comments….thanks so much for all of them…

I believe at times the activity moniter does not show all that is going on, I always look before I begin.

  • Janis Zroback replied

You are right about the monitor….I no longer totally rely on it, as it does miss some things…I just keep looking on my own…

I really like this, the bridge is a minor part of an image that draws the attention to all of the other detail. Great DOF wonderful shapes subtle colors, light and shadows.

  • Janis Zroback replied

Thank you so much….I hope to add more work with bridges in future..
