Gloucester Tree

Named after the Duke of Gloucester, who visited the tree while it was being pegged, is the tallest fire-lookout tree in the world. This magnificent Karri Tree is over 60 metres in height and offers 360° views over the surrounding hinterland. Very stunning but not for the faint hearted

I’ve been up a tree 6 meters high and took a flying fox off it for 60 meters so got to 60 ks an hour on it! lol [ain’t maths fun? :o) ] But that tree looks real dangerous without climbing gear!

  • Pagly2

Pagly2 in reply to adgray’s comment, 6 months ago

it has the potential to be dangerous but 5’ off the ground the ladder is covered so thats something…........I am a ‘Chook” I got about 4’ up and that was it…but they gace me a certificate anyway…after all I did ‘Climb” it…lolol

and I have also been up a creek without a paddle do I get a score for that…? lolol

ohhh have to tell you this…when I flew back to UK in 91 the pilot was giving little bits of information as they do…......he said : if you look out of the starboard windows we are not flying over the Khyber Pass”..without thinking and naturally everything went silent I let out with….....” Hey I have been up that and without a paddle to”...the passengers erupted in gales of laughter as I shrank ibto my seat…lolol vowing to keep my mouth shut in future….lololol

  • Pagly2

    Pagly2, 6 months ago

useful…lol maybe it takes a good hour to climb it…....because its straight up…there is a resting platform halfway up so you have to make sure there is nobody on the way down…lolol…..
but yes its a beautiful tree..Pemberton is known world wide for the Giant Karri and Jarrah trees….
    I did my BIT…lolol.
