LITERARY GIANT

Who is this man
wild-eyed and terrible?
wailing unstoppable?
Sobbing, crying, weeping
Sobbing tears
Throat-sobbed sore,
who is this man?

Where did he come from?
Wailing, crying,
crouched in a ball
Where did he come from?
rocking, shivering, cold
Black grassy hair
dank with sweat
Pale, cold, red-eyed.

...And who are these friends?
—He screams inconsolably.
Hiccups in the day time
Nightmares through the night
—But who is this man
without wit and senses?
Now wailing uncontrollably
Now laughing hysterically.

You haven’t changed at all
but your whole world has changed.
