what never sleeps rests inside

sometimes the phone doesn’t ring

i want you on…
(9th avenue) – the way it used to be.
when you were above me and i was (lost);
inside the lights of times square.
flickering electro-skittles above sidewalks swimming with…
(dreams.) the way we pretend
it doesn’t hurt.

summer nights spent in sweaty
(surrender) celebration.
listening to the fruit stand roll past my open window.
(3rd street) – downtown.
further.
you would touch my naked body and say you liked the…
(neighborhood.)

buildings to hide between
rise up splashing shadows
where we danced in chelsea,
dined on spring street.
i am left.
(counting)
street lamps down fifth.
(heartbreaks)
in our perfect city.

Are you a spoken word artist?
I happen to be and I’m working on some things as we speak…soon to have something up on redbubble.

Anyway…I mention this because your rhythm and breaks made me think of you saying this as a spoken word piece.

Don’t get me wrong though…it’s great just the way it is. I will be in touch with you!

sometimes ;-) i am happy you will be in touch!! without sounding evasive, i write in basically every genre across the board minus sci-fi and fantasy (probably because my life is strange enough! lol) i experiment with poetry and generally aim to write in a way that gets people nodding heads saying ‘word, i’ve been there before’ – which is what i think the best spoken pieces do. i can’t wait to hear more from you! xo
