Golden Moments

She loved to sit within the chapel archways. It was always so peaceful and quiet there. She came most every day. Sometimes she would spend hours and hours just looking out over the beautiful countryside and listening to the birds sing. It was the place where she wrote her many letters to friends back home in England. And when letters from home arrived this was where she would go to read them privately.

She wrote poetry too. This place so inspired her! Lately she found that her mind was so full of stories and poems that she could scarcely wait to come to the arches each day so she could write.

One day a letter arrived with a package. A friend of hers had given her poems to a friend who wanted to publish them. The publisher had also read her short stories but felt she needed more polish before he would consider publishing them. So he suggested that she read the works of other authors so she could learn from them.

Sure enough the package contained her own book of poetry AND books from several famous authors. She could not wait to get to her arches and start reading!

Years later, after her first book was published, she wrote “Those were my GOLDEN MOMENTS; the time I spent at the arches.”
