Yellow Roses at the Brick Wall

Yellow Roses at the Brick Wall by Judi Taylor

Yellow Roses at the Brick Wall

There was a man who planted a rose seed. He watered it and removed any weeds that he feared may choke it and inhibit it from growing. He tended to the area and waited anxiously for the seed to take root and grow. He anticipated how beautiful it would look its stem would break through the soil. For all the love he had for this seed he also feared that someone would come along pick his roses and leave him with nothing but broken stems without buds. So he decided to build a tall brick wall around the seed to hide it and protect it from passersby. For weeks and weeks he waited for the first signs that the rose was coming forth … but it never did. His brick wall stood barren without any rose to grace its face. One day he heard people on the other side of the brick wall talking. They sounded happy and they were marveling at some beautiful sight. This only made the man more sad because he did not have his rose to delight his senses. What the man did not know was that the sunlight was dimmed by the brick wall on his side of it … but on the other side the sun was bright. And the rose .. it grew towards the sunlight on the other side of the brick wall. There on the opposite side the rose grew in beauty and vivid color. By building the brick wall around him, the man was missing out on the joy he wanted so badly.
