Pastel on chocolate brown textured paper.

port, brown, pastel, grapes, chocolate, cheese, still life

I am a largely self taught artist from the East Riding of Yorkshire, UK. I tend to specialise in pastel life studies and still lifes – but that could change as the mood takes me. I am attracted by light, or more specifically by shadows, in my paintings. I hope you like what see see in the portfolio :)

  • Thanks Beatrice. I made a few ‘lucky’ choices with colours but, as a wise man once said, the more I practice the luckier I get :)

Brilliant. So realistic…..not sure if that is a compliment to you or not. Is the naked women about to eat this lovely feast?

  • I’ll take it in the spirit that it’s meant Andy :) The naked women didn’t get a look in. These days a lump of cheese is far more tempting.

agreed. A good shiraz and a lump of roquefort…mmmmm!

  • or…Yorkshire blue and Cotes du Rhone, followed by a nice port. That’s a good night in to me.

What a magnificent Still Life Alan, I especially like the bloom you’ve created on the grapes :-) You have an extraordinarily beautiful portfolio, bravo!

  • Thanks Constance. The bloom is sky blue pastel and a touch of white conte floated over the top. A Sunday afternoon well spent :)
