Is talking to wallpaper mad?
I’m not convinced, mine seems quite sad
It might have feelings like me and you
Have lots of things it wants to do
But there it stays trapped in one place
No break, no voice, no body, no face
Everyday it does naught but hang and hang
Whilst the window gets to open and the door gets to bang
I’m sure it wants to try something new
A change of scene, a different view
Perhaps it needs me to lend and ear
or just to chat, or spread some cheer
I don’t remember when I last stopped to say
“Hey there wallpaper, how are you today?”
“Thanks for the job you do day in, day out
You’re something we simply can’t do without”
Now, hang on a minute – this is NUTS
Wallpaper you’re just being a putz
I don’t have the time for depressed decor
I’m sorry I just can’t give you more
The solution, I’m afraid, might make you faint
Where did I put the can of paint?!
Thank you to Rob Dobi for allowing me to use his image to set off this piece of writing
