Auto exposure bracketing.

AEB for those that have this option in there camera and have not learnt how to use this option you should really get on to it.
This option give you such a great range of exposure choices you really can get more from your camera It was mentioned to me by Di Jenkins and I can not get enough of it AEB ” IS DON is GOOD ” and I only read the instruction manual so if I can do it any one can!

Its a must have Jaybe more bang for your buck so to speak it just gives you a choice between exposures as a matter of fact it gives you three choices for each single shot but you get to choose whether it is under over or under and over exposed great little tool especially for the novice like me I get three bites at the cherry in one hit.

Thanks Kurt I am loving this am learning so much from all you guys, have you used this much yourself Kurt?

I use it a fair bit, because as you said you get a wide choice of different exposure compensation, and with digital cameras now you can rattle off countless shots and review them instantly.

Apparently it’s good for HDR work too. I’ve just re-read my manual and I can do it manually by taking 3 shots and making adjustments after each one. Even with a tripod I think that would be tricky. A continuous 3 shots would make life much easier.

Jaybe, time to learn how to the old way!! There are a number of ways to do this – adjust the shutter speed by .3f stop(your camera EV steps) either side of metered exposure or more – depends what you want to achieve – to adjust the shutter speed while aperature/dof remains the same or adjust the aperture as above maintaining the same shutter speed or changing the iso speed while maintaining the shutter & aperture settings. The only thing your camera is lacking is the convenience of seleting braketing as a selectable function – auto braketing has been around from the beginning it’s not a digital camera invention!! I always bracket for landscapes and travel photography – I am so thankful for digital as it means no more processing costs at the labs – happy bracketing.

I’ll give it a try Shay – still getting used to the manual settings so it’ll be good practice for me. If you see any really crap shots in my gallery, it hasn’t worked! Thanks for the explanation.

Even though I have the option with the digital I am really taking my time and taking minimal shots of each subject otherwise I confuse myself with the array of different camera settings and also have a fetish with not using the auto option I have not once used it since buying the camera.

You have this feature Sherry…. Exposure compensation ±2.0 EV with 1/3 EV steps
Exposure bracketing ±1.0 EV with 1/3 EV steps, 3 images
    Check your manual.
