GODDESS OF AFRICA
GODDESS OF AFRICA belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical and WMGSandwiched by her mother and younger sisters
On a locally carved round stool she sat
In a siren environment oozing with African air
Mosquitoes and flies on hand as usual
Providing needless music not for dancing
In front of the near ramshackled mud house
Accommodating the traditional extended household
Yes, it was the usual dinner session
For the menu that sprawled on bare groung
Was cassava flour moulded in a ball-like
Filling up the sizeable local calabash
Granulated cowpeas made up the second calabash
With other ingridients bush meat inclusive so cooked
The soup’s aroma so inviting and the taste so natural
A handfull of moulded cassava flour she cut
In her right palm she manneouvered
Immersed the morsel she hasten to in the soup
Amidst the bushmeat that struggled for space
As she made to swallow the morsel
All her educational attainment notwithstanding
The only one surely in the family so endowed
In possession of Master’s degree in accounting
All the exposure to the outside world notwithstanding
All the beauty and carriage she romances with notwithstanding
Lo! A singing bird perched on a treebranch nearby
Sang the unusal sonorous lullaby in honour of the guest
The goddess of Africa is back home unashamed
Far away from the borrowed culture that’s insulting
