It’s still very much a work in progress.
Took it to the art class to work on, yesterday.
In spite of having no qualms about being a naturist, since at least 1992/3, I still was apprehensive.
It was my only painting, on-the-go and I needed one to work on there. I took it along, determined not to get into discussions about the benefits or otherwise of the so-called naturist lifestyle.
Rather awkwardly, I chose not to work in my usual spot. (We have all claimed a particular area, in the room. An unspoken agreement about which is our spot.)
After short while, with the light in the wrong place, I went to my spot again.
As always, Melissa, the teacher, handled it all with her usual skills, chatting breezily about her experience of being taken by a family she used to know, to one of the legal nude beaches, on Sydney Harbour, a long time ago and then got on with advising me about colour and composition.
She knows me well enough now and, quite rightly commented that it was good to see me use this painting to express the enjoyment I have had in visiting River Island Nature Retreat and wandering along the Wollondilly River there, every so often, since the summer of 1992/93.
It still needs a lot of work. It’s had just two seesions of painting…….
Painting a favourite activity. (Walks along the Wollondilly River, in River Island Nature Retreat.
