It’s still cool, in south-western Sydney. Jemma, now about 14 years old and having difficulties getting about quickly, has her favourite spot, in the sun, on the driveway.
I look at her and feel sorry for her. She’s been here, since 1994, faithfully waiting for me on that driveway, every time, for when I come home (A girl needs to eat!).
But then, I do realise that that spot is also ideal for her to keep an eye on the birds, mother, father and baby birds, just above her head (A girl’s got to eat!).
