Now what made those ladies think that this was a decorated bottom?
I’ve done some research and found some evidence…….
Was it because some of us spent a whole day, once, posing beside the latest vw, for an advertisement that appeared in the main Sunday papers, full page, and in the Qantas magazine, showing us, without clothes on, to prove that this car suited all shapes and sizes?
Or was it because some of us spent a day, helping out film-making students, who were producing a movie, which they called: Bottom-line?
Or was it because we, the now defunct FBAofNSW, supported the annual Fred Hollows, Dare to Bare events, at Middle Harbour?
Now, what made them think I would do such a thing?
By the way sitting on the floor, of a photographer’s studio, in an industrial area, in far-western Sydney, with rain pelting down on the roof, all day, and a big fan blowing to keep the models cool, was perhaps not as romantic as you may think.
Not all participants were naturists. A number worked for the agency which had contracted to produce the ad..
The routine was LOTS of shots being taken with alternate instructions from the producer of the ad., standing on a ladder,: " Smile! No smile! Smile! No smile! "
For the Fred Hollows charity event, a number of the participants WERE naturists and it wasn’t such a big dare but, once again, a number of colleagues, I believe, of the organiser, had been talked into this excursion to the nude beach.
They were rewarded with prizes.
Why write about this here, on Bubble? Because I wish to make a distinction between naked ladies draped over things for shots called ’ The Nude ’ and representations of people, in their natural bodies, just being out there, in nature.
P.S.. You know how some things you always remember? At one stage, during the VW-shoot, the photographer said through his p.a. system: " I’m sorry but I don’t know your name. Could the gentleman – with the white hair – move forward a little please?"
(I believe that I was being lined-up to balance the picture and harmonise with the colour of the car!
