Inspired by 'Day's Past And Long Forgotten'
I was checking out a velveteagle’s art gallery and saw his photo of a long forgotten silo taken on a winter’s day …. it inspired me to write a poem on it that he graciously included in his description …
for any of you who have known the old farms tucked away long forgotten you will understand (smile)
you can either click on the photo or you’ll find it here:
and do let velveteagle know what you think of his photo and say hi for me (smile)
the cry is heard all around
town folk feeling smug
as a bug in a rug
no more hard work
no more getting up at 4am
to milk the cows
no more
no more
yet
behind the shade
in the window of the house
third from the willow tree
a little girl
with dreams in her eyes
sees the fields
and the orchards
and silently she sings
although no one is left
to hear her voice
