Seen From Alvin - Deep Sea Dive - 1964 by

In Honor of my Father who never got to dive deep beneath the ocean but had worked for the company that built parts for the Alvin .. he once told me that he did all the accounting for the parts (big smile) … around the same time he went back to school to become a computer programmer. I was introduced to flowcharts and binary and machine language .. it was so exciting.. although I have no fondness for Fortran and Cobol LOL … the computer that my father worked on filled a large room! sadly he died before computers became a household necessity .. I know if he had he would have shared the same passion that I also have for the electronic beasties (grin) ….. thanks dad for turning me on to computers! (big smile)

ps. He was also an artist (big smile) …. I’m also very proud of this work. It is only the 2nd image I rendered in XenoDream (big smile)

3D work done in XenoDream with post work in Gimp. Best viewed large.

also available as a T-shirt

Looks like some kind of golden stonefish, keeping with the sea theme.

What a wonderful, sweet story Owl!! And you should be proud of this wonderful image!! Looks quite prickly! heh heh Is it long lost golden treasure? Or some very strange, shiny creature living way down in the depths of the sea? hmmmmmm

  • thank you Jen (big smile) true story (smile)

I’m quite sure it’s a creature of sorts swimming through the deep water as seen through the porthole of Alvin (big smile)

Excellent pointy fellow, sort of an anglernemone type of shiny puffer spiney… alas, I can’t think of a name yet! You certainly have a deep understanding of our computer beasties as well!

  • hehe … he was never named .. seen only once swimming in the dark (grin) … as for my deep understanding lol … no need I have for flowcharts today, machine language is best left to programs that translate for us and I have no real inclination to be a programmer lol …. that was back in the days of punchcards .. remember what those were? .. well my dad used to bring them home and my mother used to use them as notepaper for grocery lists (grin)
