Rainbow Nudibranchia

Rainbow Nudibranchia

Rainbow Nudibranchia is from the planet Tarlis in the Farcedia Galaxy. It is one of a multitude of slug like creatures that populate this ocean planet and the most colorful found to date. It is believed that this creature feeds on microscopic organisms. Not much else is know about the Rainbow Nudibranchia but the research continues.

OH AWESOME!! lovely work my dear, great, bright colors!!!

  • owlspook replied

thank you Dennis (smile) given the right program colors are easy (smile) MBF or Mind Boggling Fractals is good for rainbow coloring .. I know there is more that you can do colorwise with it but I haven’t figured that out yet (smile) ...

  • Scott Bricker

    Scott Bricker

quite an interesting (and colorful!) life form…well worth further study…seems to multiiply by tiny spores…beautiful creatures, indeed!

  • owlspook replied

(big smile) yes they are … and they sure are worth further study although that is getting a little difficult since the funding is getting tight … thought I’d put some of their photos up for sale and perhaps supplement the research monies … and oh my you did notice those tiny spores well if you could look closer they look quite close to the parent in form .. we’re not sure they’re spores unless perhaps they grow extremely quick … we still haven’t captured one for study. Well we tried but they disinegrated as we brought them to the surface…. we are only at the beginning of our research and I’m eager to see what else we can find on this ocean planet.

I’m pleased you are interested in our work. thank you for stopping by Scott (big smile)

Fantastic colours. I like this planet Tarlis with its Rainbow Nudibranchia. Well done.
    Cheers.

  • owlspook replied

well since you like Tarlis perhaps you’d like to join us as a research team member? most of the team is still there .. I came back to deal with the funding issues .. always tight (grin) ... actually we could use your expertise in documenting the planet … let me tell you, you’d love it … there are a few islands and we’re stationed on the largest … weather can be a little rough at times however most of our work is done below the water and we have some underwater housing we use too. think you might be interested? if so let me know soon .. I’ll be heading back on Saturday .. that is IF the teleport machine is working (just a joke .. it’s working fine (big smile)) ... well at least think about it .. love to have ya on the team (big smile)

The loveliest slug I ever did see! Your imagination is just amazing Owl!

  • owlspook replied

Imagination? (big smile) it’s real, really (big grin) LOL …thank you Jen … It’s fun making up all the imaginary stuff (big smile) ... happy you like the little bugger .. maybe my imagination will spark again and we’ll see more of the creatures of Tarlis (big smile)

  • retepk

    retepk

Thanks for the thought. But the transmat in the teleport here is broken so I’m just having to wait until the new one arrives from Nova Gallifrae hopefully soon. In the meantime keep me posted on how things are going on Tarlis. And say hello to the Rainbow Nudibranchias for me.
    Cheers from the Fifth System.

  • owlspook replied

sorry to hear that … getting parts from Nova Gallifrae can take an unusually long amount of time .. you’d think after all these years they’d have their supply system a little more up to date … but then again they have cornered the market .. it’s them or nothing … If I had the funding I’d stock up on replacement parts .. oh well … as I wrote I have to get back to Tarlis on Saturday .. I’m bringing back more supplies to build another underwater station .. I want to get it up and running as soon as possible. I will definitely keep you informed as to how the research is going ..hopefully you’ll be able to join us at a later date. ... cheers …

  • owlspook replied

well I’m heading back Saturday via the teleport ... bringing back supplies and construction materials for another underwater station … sadly we’re not set up for visitors yet but I’ll be back on/off and keep you all up to date … and bring photos etc. to share (big smile) I hope your not too disappointed .. wish I could have you over for a visit … we do have plans in the works for setting up a visitors section but it all depends on the funding and you know how that is nowadays … so hopefully one of these days … (big smile) ...

I could let you know how the research is going .. well that is if you’re interested (smile) ... well gotta fly … so much to do before tomorrow … take care .. hope to hear from you soon .. and oh yes thanks for the congrats on the feature … we’ll be sharing more photos of Tarlis soon … funding is so tight we decided to offer them for sale … well gotta go … cya later ..

  • owlspook replied

LOL .. a bailout, eh (grin) ... no such luck ..

haven’t gotten any new photos here on Tarlis … got the water filters installed finally … weather’s been a little rough .. oh it doesn’t matter if we were down under the water … however we weren’t … testing the filters right now .. later today we’ll go down …

btw given any consideration in joining the research team? (grin) .. you know we’d love to have you with us (big smile)

Mm, a complex lifeform, and like many invertebrates, obviously intelligent (it lives on Tarlis, rather than Earth, for a start!). Are those small fractoids reproductive nudibranchicules, or perhaps some of its food? I notice that the rainbow hue is duplicated on even the smallest element, so they must have specular fractation genes. Are the colours adaptive, or just there to be extraordinarily beautiful? So many questions! So little time!

  • owlspook replied

sorry bev … I lost your comment somehow (blush) forgive me? (smile) .. I’ve been so busy on Tarlis .. the underwater living labs have been plagued with problems and equipment breakdowns … hardly have had any time to do any exploring ..

as for these little beasties .. well we did have time to do a little research on them before everything started to fall apart … the small fractoids are actually both … they are known to cannibalize their young under certain conditions …

we’ve done the DNA work cataloging their genes … as for their coloring we seem to think it’s a reproductive adaption not unlike seen in birds and other animals on earth and other worlds .. similar looking but duller colored individuals have been found .. we’ve been wanting to process their DNA to ascertain if they are of the same species as the colorful one … however with the life support problems we’re having we haven’t had any time to continue the research … oh do I know about so little time and so many questions! never enough even under ideal conditions

... and to add to our problems I just found out that our funding may be pulled … pure research is hard to fund … I so much wanted to have this project develop .. we even had planned to build a living museum here for off-worlders to visit .. now those plans are put on hold perhaps permanently (sigh) ...

well I didn’t mean to dump my problems on ya … thanks for listening and I hope I’ve been able to answer at least some of your questions (big smile) .. and again sorry for the long delay in answering your message …

  • Carlie Hensley

    Carlie Hensley

    So interesting,Colorful and Beautiful!

  • owlspook replied

thank you Carlie (big smile) ... If you’ve read the description and the above comments/replies you’ve probably gleaned that I’m a project director on the ocean planet Tarlis doing research on the life we’re finding there (big smile) as I just told bev I’ve been so busy with problems and breakdowns that the research has basically come to a standstill and to top it off our funding might be pulled if we can’t get it all under control .. would hate to see that happen since Tarlis is such an interesting planet … (smile)

  • owlspook replied

(big smile) I find that MBF with it’s bold rainbow colors works well for some applications … this guy just popped out of the water in front of me and how could I resist (big smile) thank you so much Peaches (big smile)

  • bevanimage

That’s quite alright, Owl. It’s difficult enough to keep up with RB for those of us who work here on earth. You interplanetary researchers have all those transport problems in addition to difficulties with grants. Hope to see more of these life forms before they’re lost forever…..

  • owlspook replied

thank you for your understanding of the problems we’re encountering here on Talis … the records of our explorations and research are safely tucked away … even if the project folds at least we have that … I haven’t yet given up (big smile) ... in fact I’ll applied for more grants … will know later this summer if the project continues or not …
