The Truganina Munitions Storage facility was built during world war two as evidenced by the number of signs reminding drivers to drive on the left (Americans often forget). The facility was used through to the 70s, and has been abandoned since that time. This may be the Derrimut facility where nuclear materials were stored after the British tests.
The reserve area has a surprising range of fauna and flora including abundant frogs, nardoo and bunch spear grass.
The surviving watch tower is in the centre of the area and is surprisingly complete.
