Esplanade's Frozen Shallow by Owed to Nature
Clear

As the first day of arctic wind pushes the Charles downriver, its southern edge squeezes into the Storrow Lagoon, dooming the warmth of fast flowing water to a losing battle with the slush and ice of the protected shallows. One day later, arctic air still whips sub-zero wind chills and the river all but gives up its fight, lying still as ice stretching from shore to shore.

’SDuring an unexpected chance to experience Africa, a seed was planted. Nurtured by subsequent forays into wild places, this photographer was born.

Jacques Cousteau said “People protect what they love.” And we’ve all heard that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, enough with this. My photography says the rest. Thanks for listening.

    Great winter photograhy….!!!!

  • Thanks! This was my favorite spot… seeing where the water and ice meet and listening to the wind sloshing the waves around. So glad I went when I did. Any earlier and it would have just been water. And as I saw the next day, hours later it was solid ice. Hope you’re keeping yourself warm!!!
