“Who says squirrels aren’t white? Them’s fightin’ words Mister!”

The local news said white squirrels were born earlier this year on the grounds of Charles River Park. I’ve seen Spirit Bear (black bear with white fur) in the Great Rainforest and a leucistic robin in Back Bay Boston, but never a white squirrel. So on a beautiful September afternoon, off I went in search of another white spirit. Not to disappoint, found 3 grown and feisty triplets who the neighbors have named Marshmallow, Snowflake and Cream Cheese. Not sure of his name but this guy will challenge anyone who doesn’t believe in white squirrels and prove he’s no Marshmallow!

During an unexpected chance to experience Africa, a seed was planted. Nurtured by subsequent forays into wild places, this photographer was born.

Jacques Cousteau said “People protect what they love.” And we’ve all heard that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, enough with this. My photography says the rest. Thanks for listening.

What a great find, looks like he has his fistercuffs ready for a scrap xx

  • Thrilled to find them. Walked throughout the grounds with no luck, so went to the grocery store nearby. Luckily decided to walk back the same way and then, there they were! Quite a challenge to balance a long lens, catch them in view and focus before the scrappy bundles of energy bounded off again. But great fun and got a few shots I liked so, I warn you, I’ll be sharing more… ;-) Thanks Lynn!

aw, so cute. he is so endearing! Maybe he should be given a pair of boxing gloves!! LOL

  • Oh if I could find gloves wee-enough to fit his tiny mitts, I’d certainly get them for him! ;-) How much cuter that would be! …Sylvia

What a delightful shot. The Squirrel is adorable and beautiful. I have never seen a white one before but I have seen a black one. Great job.

  • Many Thanks Brenda! Hearing about this cutie on the news had me fascinated so I was thrilled I was able to see him. He’s even more adorable in person! ;-) …Sylvia
