Gorilla Creek in the mist by Owed to Nature

Canvas Prints

Small (12.0" x 8.0")

Available to buy on…

After days cloaked in nothing but gray and rain, we were treated to a brilliant afternoon of blue sky and clear water. As the inlet narrowed, we were greeted by a thick blanket of mist guarding the entrance to Gorilla Creek. Reminding us we were, after all, deep in the heart of a rainforest, the Great Bear Rainforest.

August 2011 update I encourage you to read National Geographic Magazine’s August issue which has two feature articles on this beautiful pristine wilderness. First is the cover story The Wildest Place in North America – Land of the Spirit Bear. Second story educates us about threats to this habitat in Pipeline Through Paradise.

During an unexpected chance to experience Africa, a seed was planted. Nurtured by subsequent forays into wild places, this photographer was born.

Jacques Cousteau said “People protect what they love.” And we’ve all heard that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, enough with this. My photography says the rest. Thanks for listening.

Beautiful colors and layered forms, Sylvia! I’ll have to add this to my list of must-sees!

  • Oh my, can’t wait to see your pictures when you go! The Great Bear Rainforest is an amazing place, sailing its secluded inlets is like traveling back in time. In the week we were there we only passed one other sailboat. Its beauty, serenity and majesty is a photographer’s dream. But your best shots are the impressions The Great Bear leaves on your spirit…
Thank you Tula for your comments and fave. Gladly return the favor with help travel planning! ;-)   …Sylvia

Wonderful capture…love the reflections and the mist

  • Thank You Larry. I’m no great photographer; those reflections and gentle mist were the beautiful welcoming party Gorilla Creek sent to urge us on. Nice to know you like them too.

  • Oh my, Thank You ever so much Angie! I love landscapes but struggle to do them justice… never-ending reaches of natural wonder just can’t be compared or contained in rectangles of defined width and height… so I’m thrilled, humbled and filled with pride to get your Feature. Thank You!!!   …Sylvia
