Every day in Africa, wilderness beckons, experiences overwhelm and the day winds down with the setting sun.

Safari introduces you to these wonders as well as a most wonderful tradition of the African bush… sundowners.

During an unexpected chance to experience Africa, a seed was planted. Nurtured by subsequent forays into wild places, this photographer was born.

Jacques Cousteau said “People protect what they love.” And we’ve all heard that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, enough with this. My photography says the rest. Thanks for listening.

    Excellent Sylvia :-)

  • Thank you Lorraine. There is nothing so luxurious for the eyes and the soul as watching the sun set on an African horizon. My favorite indulgence… ;-)

Such atmosphere and longing to be back there wrapped up in this shot. Lovely. Alma

  • Ah yes, I too often suffer from that longing to walk on the sands and soils of Africa… More thanks to you for your lovely words and support.

Perfect. Love everything about this one – and your work. You truly bring Africa to life in the most incredible way.

  • You completely overwhelm me! My love for Africa runs quite deep so you have given me the greatest compliment I could ever hope for. Two words seem so inadequate to express how much I appreciate and cherish your comments and support so I hope you know how heartfelt and happily I say… THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ;-)

Nice capture. What a cool tradition

  • Thank you John. For me, sundowners are the ultimate in luxury. Surrounded by exquisite scenery, serenaded by the calls of the wild, enveloped in golden light. That would be enough. Ah, but then to be handed your favorite cold drink… there’s nothing better! Hope you get to enjoy it firsthand too. ;-)

WOW!!! great idea – I might have to have a ‘sundowner’ party myself – here in Missouri USA, the temps have been in the upper hundreds for so long it feels just like the African bush!!!
    great shot!

  • Yikes! We hit 100s in July here in Massachusetts but August has been much nicer. Today is a beautious 80 with clear blue skies. Though far from the dust and heat of an African desert, I happily toast the sundowner tradition! Give me a far-reaching view, the sounds of birds and a rustling breeze and a cool beverage of choice and I’m there! Enjoy your party and MANY thanks for your festive comments Farah. ;-)   –Sylvia

i really want to go to australia!!

  • Me too! I’m lucky enough to have gone twice before but sadly, it was long ago and the only thing I knew about cameras then was to put film in them. (Don’t laugh, know I’m showing my age there…) But I remember Australia’s rugged beauty and wildlife being second only to Africa, so I hope we both get our chances to go! ;-) Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!
