I call him yoga bear. He looks just like any other polar bear (Ursus maritimus), happy to call Cape Churchill, Canada home. But he’s a special character who proceeded to entertain us by diving into a unique morning practice that combined elements of yoga and gymnastics to get him the starring role in the Yoga Bear calendar. You can also find all images of this guy, by using this link to Yoga Bear images.

Shot using:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel (the original!)
Canon EF75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM lens
And yes, both survived and performed even as temps dipped to -22F/-30C degrees!

During an unexpected chance to experience Africa, a seed was planted. Nurtured by subsequent forays into wild places, this photographer was born.

Jacques Cousteau said “People protect what they love.” And we’ve all heard that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, enough with this. My photography says the rest. Thanks for listening.

Beautiful animal and very well captured, OTN. Great work.

  • Thanks Olitto. Polar bears are amazing creatures. It was a thrill to spend 6 days at Cape Churchill and see them in on their terms. COLD but worth it!
