Giraffe smiles for her headshot by

Giraffa camelopardalis
This “tall blond” lives in Ndutu in the southern section of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. You know she’s a female because of the tufts of hair that grow over the tips of her horns. While the tops of the horns on male giraffes are bald. And yes, she does have nice long luxurious lashes that any girl would be proud off.

During an unexpected chance to experience Africa, a seed was planted. Nurtured by subsequent forays into wild places, this photographer was born.

Jacques Cousteau said “People protect what they love.” And we’ve all heard that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, enough with this. My photography says the rest. Thanks for listening.

  • Thank you so much Janice for my feature. Particularly this week, I cherish every time RB makes me smile. At least that’s one thing the site’s facelift can’t change - it’s the people, the groups and the inspiring work that really make this place work. So I’m having a big glass of wine tonight to toast perseverance. Wanna join me? ;)

Yes I will join you. I could use a drink after all the stress of this big change.

  • Great. I hear that changes were made to increase sales. I guess it worked… sales of wine and other beverages of choice must be skyrocketing!

Super – she posed for you perfectly !

  • Ah, one of those few times when critter decides to look away after you take the shot instead of the split second before you get them in focus. So when it happens, I smile too! ;-)
    Thanks Anthony.
