During an unexpected chance to experience Africa, a seed was planted. Nurtured by subsequent forays into wild places, this photographer was born.

Jacques Cousteau said “People protect what they love.” And we’ve all heard that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, enough with this. My photography says the rest. Thanks for listening.

Yes it does…Beautiful work Sylvia You know they actually searched in my town of Dartmouth for a while yesterday? We were starting to worry! Love your photo!!!!

  • Relieved to hear you are OK Lorraine. I’ve been visiting my Mom so have not been there for this nightmare. Surreal and scary hearing and watching it unfold on the news. The bombings were 6 and 7 blocks from home and the unexploded bomb they found yesterday was 1 block away so I share your fears. But scary as it is, I’m yearning to be home and surrounded myself with the best the city has to offer… and as we know, there’s far more good in Boston than anything else! Thank heavens we have a happy ending to such a terrible week. Stay safe and strong!

Nice tribute, Sylvia… what a week. Were you in town or out?? My nephew did drive in (from Scituate) to his office at the State House yesterday morning… said it was positively surreal, & before long the handful of employees in the building were asked to go home. So he ended up at the satellite office in Hingham. Whatever next?

  • Thank you Sheila! As “fate” would have it, been visiting my Mom out of town so been surreal seeing views from my daily life behind crime scene tape, overrun with law enforcement and criminal investigators. I can only imagine how unreal it must feel back home. The bombings and the unexploded device found yesterday were 6, 7 and 1 block from my home. Yesterday’s event played out in areas across the street from restaurants I visit often… East Coast Grill (great place!) in Inman Square and Not Your Average Joe’s in Watertown… so was glued to screens (thank goodness for the internet for a shot of local news coverage anywhere) all day and night. Hallelujah we got such relief and happy ending last night. Just the start though but to have this to cheer about in such a horrific week is as amazing as the city… Glad to hear your loved ones stayed safe. You stay so too…

Great news today on the capture of second bomber, must be such a relief for everyone, but also have to think about the people killed and injured xx

  • As you so rightly say, still so much to do for the victims and their loved ones. At least with the capture of the perpetrators, that distraction and fear is gone so we can focus on what’s most important going forward. Thank you for your never-ending thoughtfulness!
