Dirfi (Greek: Δίρφη) is the highest mountain (alt. 1,743 m.) in Evia or Euboea, very close to the sea and 35 kilometres from Chalkida, the island’s capital. The mountain is covered with thick forests of fir-trees (reaching heights of up to 80 m (260 ft) tall and trunk diameters of up to 4 m (12 ft), while its slopes are wooded by forests of chestnuts.
