After staying for two nights in Zhangmu village near the Nepal-China (Tibet) borders having very bad weather, we heard that the passages were open and we should try to go further to our journey to Tibet via Friendship Highway to the great city of Lhasa. So we gathered our gear and got on a 4WD with a chinese driver. After a few kilometers we discovered that the road was closed for once again, like it was two days ago. We got out of the car to take some pictures in the snow, and we saw these youngsters playing nearby, out on the freezing cold, like any other day, on an altitude over 3,000m / 9,850ft.
The Friendship Highway (also known as the China-Nepal Highway) is a 800 kilometres (500 mi) scenic route connecting the capital of Tibet Lhasa with the Chinese/Nepalese border at the Sino-Nepal Friendship Bridge between Zhangmu and Kodari. It crosses three passes with altitude over 5,000m before dropping to 1,750m at the border.
