  1. The BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is an international showcase for the best nature photography. Being placed in this competition, whether commended or a prize-winner, has become the ultimate accolade, one to which photographers worldwide aspire. Professionals win many of the prizes, but amateurs succed, too. And that’s because achieving the perfect picture of a natural subject is down to a mixture of vision, camera literacy, knowledge of nature – and luck. This competition is the oldest (running for 47 years), the biggest (about 45,000 entries from 95 countries each year) and the greatest wildlife photography competition in the world.
  2. These are the final results. This year I sent to the competition 19 images and 3 of them passed to the semifinals. As you understand, it’s very difficult to win one of the 17 categories.
