This is my son’s cat, Clifford.
Clifford pretty much adopted my son as his “Daddy” when he was less than a year old.
Before that, Clifford was a wild cat… living off of the land in Orlando, Florida.
Clifford began to follow my son around every time he would take his dog outside for a walk. This went on for a couple of months. Even though Clifford showed an incredible desire to be near my son, he still remained at a close distance. Over time, trust was established and slowly Clifford let my son handle him like a “cat”. I’m guessing that Clifford knowing that he got food from my son helped speed that process along.
Clifford has lived with my son for a couple of years now and is doing very well, considering how he used to be.
He absolutely LOVES my son, and is pretty much glued to his side at all times. When my son leaves the house, poor Clifford is a lost soul.
He really doesn’t care much for other people, which makes me sad because I would love to love him! He does occasionally let me pet him on the head, but that is usually short lived.
Over time though, he is getting a bit braver and really beginning to step out of his “comfort” zone.
Rather than secluding himself when my son leaves the house (like he used to), he will now venture downstairs and hang out with me on the big kitty condo that sits in front of a big window. He seems to have claimed that spot :-)
