I market my graphic designs and photo’s under Outdoor Addix.
Some of my t-shirt designs are witty, some are funny, some are “artsy”, and some just make you go “Huh?”.
I am also an avid photographer, always in search of that “perfect” moment. I am finding myself drawn to two very different styles. The first is Macro Photography. The closer the better! Seeing the world through “Macro” eyes opens up a whole new world. The second would be “Selective Color” which is a technique where I remove some color out of a photo, but keep certain parts colored to make them really stand out. I accomplish this effect in my post editing where I use SilkyPix, Photomatix, and Photoshop.
Fishing, boating, and just being outdoors is where I want to be. Lucky for me, I have found a way to share my passion for the outdoors through my photography and my designs.
I fished Professionally on a National bass fishing tour for three years and got to see some incredible things while traveling from state to state to state. I also traveled quite a bit to give Fishing Seminars. Imagine getting paid to talk about something that you absolutely love! It was a dream come true!
But… unfortunately (very I might add), my fishing and seminar speaking career came to a screeching halt due to some complications I had from having surgery on my cervical spine because of some herniated discs I ended up with after a nasty car accident.
I ended up with a paralyzed vocal chord, which basically robbed me of my voice, life and my ability to make a living. Statistics show that my nerve that was damaged during the surgery should have fully recovered by the fourth month. It didn’t. It didn’t at 7 months. It didn’t at 1 year. The doctors have officially declared this to be a permanent injury, and that my vocal chord will remain paralyzed the rest of my life. In the mean time, while I was waiting and waiting for my nerve to heal, I made two separate trips to the operating room where they were able to give me a “temporary” voice. The next step now is to get a permanent vocal fold implant, which the doctors tell me will restore my “speaking” voice, but, that my singing voice is a thing of the past….
So… I lost my ability so speak, but I didn’t lose the passion and wonder that I had for the outdoors.
It was during this time that I began to focus on my fishing, boating, hunting, and outdoor related graphics. This kept me very busy and helped keep my mind off of the fact that I had no voice. It also kept my (sometimes odd) sense of humor intact.
It makes me SO happy to know that other people connect with my designs and photographs, and the sales that are generated as a result are just an added bonus.
I’d be more than happy to customize any of my designs for you. Please send an email with details.
Don’t forget to bookmark my page, as I am regularly adding new exciting designs and photographs.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about the person behind the photos :-)
