I don’t have anything to hide so I don’t care, everything on the internet is forever, no matter what site. Although having to go through all that BS just to close your account is ridiculously over the top!

hey Sharin I heard that on CNN the other day,,,curious if you put a photo on Facebook do you still hold the rights to that photo or could facebook sell and keep the profits of your work..hmmm i guess some corporations want it all…so much for the little man….Steve

I just joined up and am glad – I have reconnected with people I thought I would never hear from again. I guess the secret is to not put anything on there that is copyrighted (or do a big watermark) or you wouldn’t want your Aunt Agnes to see. From what I have heard FB is backing off a bit. Anyway, my life is an open book – if you google me it’s like 3 pages of stuff.

I don’t have a facebook account and I’m glad I don’t! Thanks for posting this, Sharon. It’s interesting and disturbing. That first link is also hilarious.

Hi Sharon. I sent you a Bubblemail on the subject with more information. I know you definitely can’t delete your account. A highly technical person might be able to find a way or we could try doing something offensive & be shut out !! (heaven forbid).
Sounds like they want to make their membership stats look impressive.
Seems to be the new trend. I’m on another (non-photographic) site which has ignored my requests to delete my profile.
Most sites have a “delete account” button thankfully. Have a great week.

If you set up an account and want to change your name they won’t let you either. The answer is not to get too excited and tell all. Now that i realise friends of friends put up an access my profile I’m more guarded about what I put up.

If everything on the internet is forever, we have each developed our own little piece of immortality. That article was an interesting read and I’m glad I only ever tinkered with Fbook and not with my real name.
So my account can stay deactivated, no harm done.
I wonder what happens when we grow old and die and our bank accounts are closed then someone buys a heap of our art on our redbubble page. Where would the money go?

‘Ae, that is a good question.
