Sharon Mau replied
Mahalo Michael!! Ho’okipa is one of my favourite beaches to photograph the sunsets on Maui. Of course with the season now entering ‘winter’ with the return of the Humpback Whales on their annual migration as they return from Alaska waters to the channels of the Hawaiian Islands to calve and breed, the sun is setting closer and closer to Lana’i and Kaho’olawe on the opposite side of the island, so the North Shore is cast in deep light most evenings, but wow!! The sunrises are spectacular this time of year, especially in Hana and on Keana’e Point.
.This is a view of West Maui and the island of Moloka’i is shrouded in the mists on the distant horizon. I love the North Shore, the water is so clean and clear it is absolutely delicious and every day is always so brand new. I have literally thousands of images of Ho’okipa at all times of day and evening and continually add to my collection as I love to swim in the tide pools and walk here frequently…. Aloha e Malama pono, Sharon
