    Hi Sharon~

On the road to Hana, I have visited a black sand beach in Maui a few times, and I have trouble recalling names, but I have taken quite a few photos of the area. I love the vantage point you chose on this one. I’ve been all around here, I believe, and down onto the beach, but was never able to find a spot under the trees. Very nice, indeed!

I hope to return someday, although it will be difficult for me, as I have never gone to Hawaii without Rolanda before. It was our most favorite place in the world. We never made it to Kauai, but I understand it is the most lush and rainy. But we have been here on Maui, Oahu, of course, and The Big Island a few times, which I really love, as well.

I have a thousands of shots of photos that I took with my 35mm camera many years ago, as far back as 1987. On our first visit to Maui and Oahu, I took 700 photos. I’m not sure if scanning the photos would leave the photos in a condition of good enough quality to post on RB. Does anybody know if that is ever done and posted here? Maybe digital images are the only things that work?

It has been quite a while since we were here. I remember what I call caves, joining the beaches with waves that splash through, and another pool of water to the north of the beach that flows underneath a cave area, and remember reading or hearing about a legend of two lovers that drowned there? I’m so sorry that my memory is so bad. I figure if any body would know about that, it would be you for sure, Sharon. Do you have photos from there that you have shared? I cannot remember the name of the park nearby, nor the caves that I am referring to, but I recall hiking down some man-made steps to get to the reddened pool, and jumping off the rocks and into the very cool water. I might even have the wrong place all together. Maybe that is not even near the black sand beach in your photo? I’d sure love to hear you talk shop, though. What a beautiful place to live. I have dreamed about finding a way to relocate, but I’m afraid I have too many obligations here and I am, unfortunately, not independently wealthy.

You don’t realize it, but your photos are sure filling my heart with joy, because you are truly helping me relive some very precious moments.

    Mahalo! ~ Honolulu Hank
