Strangford Lough from Whiterock side, looking across the islands Skettrick, Reagh and Ballydorran Lightship, to the other side , the peninsula and beyond to Scotland. To the right of the photo is a causeway to Skettick Island and Skettrick castle . The Island is well known for the restaurant “Daft Eddies”, named after a local smuggler and his band who roamed the lough in the 19th centuary. You can find out more about Daft Eddie and the Smugglers of Strangford Lough in this book by W G Lyttle
A wet and windy day. We wondered wether we would get our flight from the Ulster Flying Club, Newtownards. Amazingly from lunch time for the next hour, we had a window to fly round the wonderful Strangford lough, Co Down Northern Ireland.
As with all of the coastline of ‘Norn Iron’ it is managed by the National Trust
