1933 MG J2 …pictured here at Mountstewart, on the shores of Strangford lough , Co Down Northern Ireland. Taken a few years ago with a little Olympus CZ 220.
A road going two-seater. Early cars had cycle wings but these were replaced in 1933 by the full length type that was typical of all sports MGs until the 1950s TF. The top speed of a standard car was 65 mph (105 km/h), but a specially prepared one tested by The Autocar magazine reached 82 mph (132 km/h). The car cost £199.
An 847 cc straight four cylinder engine powered the 2083 cars produced.

Modern cars just do not have the charisma of these beautiful motorcars – lovely shot, Steve !!

  • Aww thanks Matte I agree entirely. My problem is I have lots of pics of lovely old stuff like this but don’t get time to tidy them up a bit .. this was taken about 5 years ago with a wee point and shoot.

Well worth it, Steve. It’s in marvellous nick and almost as fast as my ’69 Midget was. Not bad for a wee car 36 years older.

  • The Midget was great fun….. I just Googled this car and i see she’s up for sale or was .. don’t know how old the posting was 1933 J2
