Ir. Ch. Yarabis Cuhusail at Cairncaver
(Donovan)
Yarabis Cuhusail at Cairncaver…roughly translated from the bronze age Celtic language , means… ‘The Warrior King From The Border Area’ who now resides in the country of ..’The Burial Place Of The King Of The Ulaid – County Down Branch’ situated in the Craigantlet hills. Craigantlet meaning…’the hill overlooking the holy wood , ‘Santus Boscus’…on the shore of the waters over the salt mines, on the estuary of ‘Bel-Feirste’…The ford over the river Lagan ………ahm….softly flowing.
Lagan, if you Google it, comes up as the … Republic of Kalmykia, in the Russian Federation and then lots of other cra…information. The old spelling of Lagen is everywhere , from the Phillipines to Norway! …to be honest its as common as Bel Feirste muck!
Belfast….‘Bel Feirste’… is built on muck and the buildings are on piles..some would say thats why it’s an arse of a place…. ‘cause it has piles! I don’t! .. I’m only saying what some would say!
Yarabis, I think comes from the Vikings of Dublin, meaning …down there!
We went through all the Irish poets/lyricists/playwrights/bards…Yeats, Shaw, Kennedy, French, ..even Turlough O’Carolan himself! Myles Na gopoleen appealed to me … can you imagine shouting down the garden, “Na gopoleen yer tripes ready!”…. Nope! ..
Moved on to movie stars.. ! He was a quiet dog… the quiet man…’The Quiet Man!’.. yes … no ! Trooper Thornton …didn’t sound right …Wasn’t Wayne in Donovan’s Reef? Wasn’t he Michael Patrick ‘Guns’ Donovan?…Yes.. but hang on a minute …what about …Thomas Aloysius ‘Boats’ Gilhooley.. Lee Marvin…nah …he wasn’t Irish.
‘Donovan‘…“They call me Mellow yellow… quite rightly” ..that was it!.. the colour .. the poet .. the laid back .. He was a Celt .. now resides in Ireland.
Anyway… we called him Donovan! He was a very laid back dog , he didn’t suit being a Celtic spear chucker as his name implied. More a poet/word smith.
That was the name ..quiet laid back gentleman dog.. great craic ..and sadly missed

Wonderful photo and a great story to boot! I just don’t understand, “her indoors.”
LOL …thank you Kay. Her indoors.. well…the wife as referred to by her husband to his friends.
Popularized by Arthur Daley (played by the brilliant George Cole)in British TV series ‘Minder’.
“I’ve just bought a present for her indoors, it’s our anniversary”.
Other terms are little lady, missus, other half, (wife)-trouble and strife, boss.

Well, KKK (not the American type) will be pleased the Ashes are on their way. (The Aussies couldn’t play their way out of a wet paper bag.) Loved the story – and the photo.
