Sandhill Cranes in Flight

Artist's Description

Featured in Nature’s Paintbrush, Beautiful BC, The Birds, Birds Birds Birds, and Amazing Wild Life

This image was captured at the George Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta, BC, Canada, very close to Vancouver in March, 2011 using a Nikon D700, 600 mm lens and 1.4 teleconverter, ISO 800, f8, 1/3200 s). Sandhill cranes migrate every year to this area from the high arctic. They are wonderfully photogenic birds, about 50% larger than great blue herons that are so common here.
