Every year thousands upon thousands of Snow Geese migrate from the Arctic to more southern climes, including the estuary of the Fraser River in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. As I write this, I am told there are presently 23,000 snow geese in the region. I have been trying to capture the magnitude of the migration, and how many birds one sees. I also wanted my viewers to be able to see what an individual snow goose looks like. I opted for this image, which I hope captures some of both. On this day, I was using my Nikon D700 and f4 600 mm lens with a 1.4 teleconverter (ISO 1000, f5.6, 0 EV, 1/800).
