After capturing and killing a female mallard duck, this female bald eagle wastes no time in getting her meal and nutrition. She is not wasteful with her meal, either, eating almost every part of her prey, including legs and feet, as shown in this image. I have uploaded this picture to show how this magnificent predator so completely uses its kill. Nothing is wasted!
The image was captured near the Westham Island Bridge in Delta, British Columbia, using a Nikon D700, Nikkor 600 mm lens (f4, AF-S), ISO 800, -0.67, f18, 1/800 s. Even though I was using a long lens and a teleconverter, this image has been seriously cropped to provide visual detail.
