This image captures a northern harrier hunting a marshy area of the Fraser River in south west British Columbia.

The image was captured on a Nikon D700 and Nikkor 600 mm lens with a 1:4 teleconverter using these settings: ISO 500, f9, 1/1000s.

If I could live my life to live over, I would be a biologist because nature provides me with such joy and passion. I am able to capture and share my experiences in nature with good camera gear, and through the medium of RedBubble. I hope you enjoy my work capturing scenes from nature.

Well David, now I have a goal…lol. I can only hope to get shots this close (with my P&S) and clear. Great Capture!

  • I love your harrier shots, Kimberly. I would say you are exceeding expectations with your P&S camera. Until you get an slr, a blind might be a great investment for you, so you can hide from your subjects and that way get a lot closer. Thank you for your comment.

Superb shot David, the feathers are beautiful.

  • The light on the feathers and the detail the camera captured really make this image stand out from all the other harrier shots I took that day. Thank you, Pam.
