This shot of a large flock of snow geese was taken at the mouth of the Fraser River in south west British Columbia at dusk. This year’s migration to the area is estimated at 23,000 birds, who fly to the region from north east Russia. Check out the Cornell University Ornithology site for interesting information, including the sound these birds make.
The image was captured on a Nikon D700 with a Nikkor f4 600 mm lens and 1:4 teleconverter mounted. The camera settings were as follows: ISO 800, -0.67 EV, f29, 1/1000s.
