Cormorant Fishing in the Snow

Artist's Description

Cormorants are commonly seen along the south coast of British Columbia during the winter months. This bird is part a large flock fishing the area of the Fraser River near its mouth. The birds are catching salt water fish that enter the river for its rich nutrients. The snow certainly did not deter this bird from catching a rather large flat fish.

Nikon D300, Nikkor f4 600 mm lens, ISO 640, f4, 1/640s.
