A Common Image on the West Coast
This bird is a glaucous winged gull, a very common image for those who live on the west coast of North America. In Campbell River, where I live, they are certainly the most common species one sees on the beach. Gregarious, loud, and sometimes a bit aggressive, some people might regard them as a nuisance. This picture captured in early morning light, I hope shows the beauty of this gull.
Technical: Nikon D300, Nikon 200-400 mm F4 lens @ 400mm, 1.7 teleconverter, 1/800, F9, ISO 640.

They’re everything you mentioned, and really very beautiful. Just don’t leave a small kid eating french fries alone with one!!! lol
This is an excellent photo, and my hat’s off to you for the different, excellent elements in it. I think I especially love the gull’s reflection in the ripples, but I love the whole pic!

Unless they are wild! They learn quickly about our (human) weaknesses. Most of the gulls in Campbell River are still wild, which makes them more endearing than the gulls I meet in the city. Thank you as usual for you awesome comments. I so appreciate them.
