Allow Me This Dance And No, I Didn't Kiss Her

‘Excuse me there beautiful lady, but will you grant me this next dance?",
She had been standing for a long time and her way I had continuously glace.
I was alone without a date and I did notice she was without an escort,
Since she didn’t answer my invitation I walked away in some discomfort.

Without need to again embarrass myself I walked outside to get a head start,
The night was cold and I had left my coat on the chair with a broken heart.
“Excuse me handsome young man, but will you grant me the next dance?”
I nodded my head, went back inside, but I was afraid of a little romance.

Never before had I danced, so I had figured to move fast and it’d be okay,
However; the next song happened to be a slow piece as her voiced I obeyed.
I didn’t know where to place my hands, but she gently guided them for me,
I felt like I was in heaven as my feet responded and with her I wanted to be.

The sweetness of the music made me feel so proud to hold her in my arms,
Being sixteen years of age and still so green, I needed help in my charms.
The next day my lonely world got more confusing as girls looked my way,
We didn’t kiss, but everyone thought we had, so I distinctly knew what to say.
