The gray smoke was still emitting from the barrel of the 38 mm hand gun,
A group of five middle school age boys had been playing with it and having fun.
Their faces were still in shock as one of their friends was bleeding on the ground,
His pain earlier had been plenty but as he was dying less was his crying sound.
Panicking emotions made each one of the grieving school boys unable to react,
None of them seem old enough to ever admit to the errors of committed facts.
All of them had grown up together in the neighborhood trusting each other,
A costly mistake of skipping school to play adult games had cost them a brother.
In the distance they heard sounds of the siren of the ambulance and police cars,
People were standing in the curb sides and some had come out from the bars.
The weapon was lying on the street as they all stared at their friend in need,
None wanted to admit to the shooter of the gun that had done a terrible deed.
As the sheet was placed over the body the group cried with fear and emotions,
In the back ground they could hear the rumors and all of the commotions.
Frightened beyond anything they had ever felt they walked away in silence,
They later continued running until they came to a home street full of violence.
Mothers and fathers waited outside to hear the news of the events next door,
Many had no running water or electricity because most of them were poor.
Parents of the victim soon could be heard crying and yelling very loud,
The remaining friends went home pretending knowing nothing what it was about.
The four friends went to school the day as counselors came to talk in school,
Other students could be heard in the hallways saying the boy had been a fool.
The teacher found out that the five had been absent the one previous day,
The four closed lip friends cried in shame refusing what their hearts had to say.
