For many years I felt like the common water heater,
Doing my job of keeping the water hot made it sweeter.
I always seemed like I was in a dark room hidden away,
And only noticed when there was no hot water for the day.
At certain times she would visit me at my own private domain,
Only to make sure I was working well when important people came.
Uncomfortable words of, “You stupid heater!” and then she lit my pilot light,
Boy, it felt so nice to feel the soft hands bringing me to life and it felt so right.
Alone in a lonely place I could hear her loud laughter,
While others embraced her waist and in bed she said,“Oh baby, do it faster!”
I felt like not giving her any more hot water when she asked,
But I knew that my pilot light would not be called upon to do the task.
One day I heard say that she needed a bigger water heater,
And I felt like my woes were over and I stopped working when I became bitter.
She came running to me with a torch to start me working anew,
Shouting that soon a truck would arrive and my life span minutes were a few.
Soon as she unplugged me off the wall I became outraged and my tank burst,
While she got very anger I let the water drain on her floor to make things worst.
She couldn’t find the help she needed right away so she had to keep me a while,
As her frantic phone calls told her the new heater was late by a hundred miles.

The life of a water heater, boy I hope you don’t relate this to something else, but then, that’s your choice.
