A newly egg hatched baby bird has fallen from its nest,
Only to face the greatest challenge of survival test.
Beneath the tall tree a mother cat sees her fallen prey,
Helpless to fly and perhaps will not live to see the day.
She smiles knowing that an easy meal awaits on the ground,
And she walks slowly knowing there is no one around.
The feathered baby separates itself from the broken shell,
Uncoordinated as it stumbles unknowing that from the tree it fell.
The feline finds the little bird and sniffs and licks the tiny treat,
She looks intensively and sizes up how much will be of meat.
Between her jaws she picks it up and takes it to a favorite place,
Then she gently drops it down as the baby looks at her face.
“Tweet, tweet, — tweet, tweet,” chirps the tiny infant at what it sees,
“Meow, meow, — meow, meow” answers mother cat as though she agrees.
The four footed mother continues to clean the feathers until it’s ready,
To put it between her teeth and transport it as she paces steadily.
The furry cat takes the little bird to the owner that treats her well,
She climbs on a porch chair and uses her pawn to ring the door bell.
Out comes an old lady that picks both of them up and walks inside,
And she asks the baby bird, “Well, how did you enjoy the ride?”
